Applied Materials Electrical Engineer III Senior - (E3) in Santa Clara, California

As Electrical Engineer in the CTO, Advanced Technology Group, you will be architecting, specifying and developing electrical subsystems for research platforms and prototype hardware for both silicon and non-silicon systems. This position requires depth and/or breadth of controls and power systems. Interprets internal or external business issues and recommends best practices. Solves complex problems; takes a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions. Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations. May lead functional teams or projects. You will be working as part of a multi-discipline team of System, Mechanical, Software, and other Electrical Engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Implement concepts for wide range of complex product issues and solutions.

  2. Interfaces with internal and external customers regarding complex electrical issues for specific projects

  3. Generate product specifications with limited to no supervision

  4. Execute engineering projects, producing well organized, clean and clear technical drawings and specifications of a complex scope.

  5. Problem identification and troubleshooting a wide range of complex electrical problems with limited to no supervision.

  6. Specify and/or perform engineering analysis of complex scope

  7. Define, coordinate, perform and generate engineering test reports

Accountable for the design, schedule, release, and performance of all electrical systems; Primarily should have in depth working experience and knowledge of EtherCAT control design such that be able to independently design, program, test and release EtherCAT controls with Master/Multiple-slaves including Motion servo drives, Valves, Press/Flow Gages, MFC, RF Gen/Match, Heaters, etc.; with designed in converters for devices that are non-EtherCAT.

  1. Understanding of existing Amat systems using discrete I/O, DeviceNet, and EtherCAT, etc

  2. Understanding and ability to Manage AC Power Distribution with 110V/120V, 208V/220V, and 440V/480V loads meeting SEMI-S2 standards.

  3. Should be familiar with UL and SEMI-S2 requirements for Semi/Display equipment to work with third parties to get designs SEMI-S2 certified.

  4. In depth work design experience (Min. 5 years) capability of Semiconductor/Display Equipment controls and interlock schemes including for Gas Panels, Pressure/Flow, Valves, Motion, RF Gen/Match, Heaters, etc. Capability to use diagnostic test equipment including Data Loggers, Oscilloscope, Network Analyzers, etc.

  5. Work experience (Min 5 years) of PCB assy design, including schematic generation using P-CAD or OrCAD, component selection, layout, and BOM structuring, etc.

  6. Work experience (Min 5 years) of Cable assy design, including CAD drawing generation, wire and component selection and structuring.

  7. Work experience (Min 5 years) to generate System Interconnects, System Schematics, System cable/wire Routing, BOM, and ECN.

  8. Work experience (Min 5 years) to release specifications of control/power electrical assemblies; and working with Suppliers to deliver cost-effective solutions on schedule.

  • 4 - 10 Years of Experience
