Stellavise provides engineering design and technical consulting services to solar project developers and contractors. The team relies on their significant experience in the development, financing, construction, commissioning and operation of solar photovoltaic plants to provide their clients with holistic solutions that optimize plant performance without sacrificing quality or long-term reliability. Stellavise serves the U.S. solar market from their office located in San Diego, California.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage client relationships and project portfolios

  • Provide mentorship and training to new and junior engineering personnel

  • Develop and manage engineering design standards

  • Design commercial and utility scale solar PV systems (100kWto 100MW+)

  • Engineer and optimize project interconnections up to 34.5kV

  • Design protection and relaying systems.

  • Perform electrical calculations of DC, AC and MV electrical systems

  • Develop ETAP system models for underground thermal calculations, grounding system design, device coordination and Arc Flash analysis

  • Manage projects through design and construction, including RFI response, equipment submittal reviews and meetings

  • Communicate with local utilities and AHJs to ensure designs meet all requirements for interconnection and operation.

  • Perform occasional site visits to determine electrical interconnection plan, design constraints and suitable locations for solar arrays

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience designing medium voltage distribution systems, including protection system coordination, grounding systems, relay schematic and settings design, equipment specification, etc.

  • 4+ years of experience designing commercial and utility scale solar PV systems.

  • Experience with SKM, ETAP, or similar software.

  • Experience working with AutoCAD with an understanding of layer control, dimensions and scaling, sheet sets, blocks, xrefs, line weights, plot files, and file transmission.

  • Experience managing a team

  • Detail oriented and thorough, with excellent planning, process, and project management skills.

  • Ability to clearly communicate verbally and through email to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Strong work ethic with self-motivated mentality

  • Professional Engineering License in Electrical Engineering

  • Electrical Engineering Degree from ABET Accredited Program

  • Licensed to drive in the state of CA

  • Ability to climb ladders/survey roofs

Preferred:

  • SCADA, monitoring and telemetry design experience

  • Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) design experience

  • NABCEP Certified
