intelligent transportation systems (ITS) engineering. Candidates must have a willingness to perform general civil and electrical engineering tasks supporting various project managers as required. Interns can expect to work on projects side-by-side with EITs

an PEs. Job duties may include:

  • ITS master plan development

  • Concept of operations development, intelligent transportation systems, traffic detection systems, traffic operations centers

  • ITS design and implementation tasks – traffic operations centers, dynamic message signs, CCTV, fiber optic networks

  • ITS cost research

  • Lighting/photometric plan development

  • Power distribution plan development

Position Requirements

  • In the process of receiving a BS or MS from an ABET accredited university in the field of Electrical or Civil Engineering (electrical strongly preferred)

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines

  • Detail-oriented team player with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment

  • Ability to work independently

Min. Experience Current Student

Min. Education Level Bachelor's Degree

Required Major Civil Engineering

Desired Qualifications

  • Candidates completing their degree between winter 2018-summer 2019 are preferred

  • Working knowledge of Excel, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Microstation, GIS, or other applicable software programs

  • Understanding of voltage drop calculations/analysis

  • Understanding of signal controller systems

  • Knowledge of communication systems

  • Understanding of data and data uses
