Join Microsoft’s Devices Group’s Manufacturing Test Engineering team and make your mark on Microsoft’s most advanced products. Our group designs and builds the test systems for a wide range of highly innovative products such as Xbox, Surface, and HoloLens. We are looking for a Sr Electrical Engineer who can bring fresh ideas to developing test solutions for complex, high volume consumer products, with a specific focus on current and emerging RF technologies. As a successful candidate, you will be a contributor to manufacturing test systems design, in fast-paced development cycles. A strong mix of technical ability, innovation, and vision allows you to address system problems and solve them effectively and quickly. You are highly motivated and enjoy contributing to cross-disciplinary teams to successfully accomplish your team goals.


Job Responsibilities:

• Provide direction and support of overall RF test system solutions for manufacturing of such products as Xbox, Surface, and HoloLens

• Design, integrate, debug, document, qualify, and support those solutions through an entire product lifecycle

• Partner with internal and external teams to leverage existing solutions as appropriate o Product Design o DVE o Quality o Reliability o DFx o NPI

• Travel to factory locations domestically and internationally to support the deployment of the RF manufacturing test strategy to production sites


Qualifications include:


• BS Electrical Engineering OR related Engineering Degree Preferred:

• Strong background in developing manufacturing test solutions

• In-depth knowledge in test methods for various RF technologies:

• WiFi 802.11ac


• Bluetooth

• Excellent communication, teamwork, and documentation skills

• Excellent organizational skills

• Great attitude and self-motivation

• Desire to share knowledge with others and mentor junior engineers

• Experience with multiple brands of test equipment to support RF testing

• Experience in the definition/development of scripts used in the calibration of RF systems

• Experience in the selection and implementation of RF splitters, switches, probes, couplers, connections, and cables that meet the needs of a high-volume manufacturing test environment

• Experience in the selection and implementation of processes to optimize takt time and capacity of a high-volume manufacturing test environment

• Experience in troubleshooting to root cause and solve complex problems

• Proficiency with statistical analysis methods and tools is preferred

• Experience delivering solutions for high-volume production is preferred

• Broad experience in design of automated systems is a plus:

• Vision systems and analysis

• Motion systems and controls

• Sensors including thermal, proximity, optical, electrical, etc.

• Systems integration
