Responsibilities

For this opening, we are looking for an Electrical Engineering Researcher. The candidate must have a demonstrated research background and be adept at developing embedded hardware, including sensors, circuits, and algorithms. He or she will work with a multi-interdisciplinary team of researchers with expertise in hardware, sensors, signal processing and computer vision. The goal is to create the next generation of devices and user experiences.

Qualifications

Required qualifications, demonstrated with a portfolio of previous work:

  • Embedded hardware development

  • Analog and digital circuit design, with excellent understanding of circuit theory

  • Schematic capture and multilayer PCB layout with ECAD tools (e.g., Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro)

  • Design of custom devices containing microprocessors, microcontrollers or SoCs and components such as ADCs, DACs, sensors, cameras and microphones.

  • Proficiency with C and programming for microcontrollers

  • Circuit simulation and board-level simulation

  • Design verification, bringup and troubleshooting with laboratory equipment (oscilloscopes, signal generators, etc.).

Highly valued qualifications:

  • Excellent spoken, written and presentation fluency in technical English.

  • A strong drive to experiment, prototype and improve.

  • The ability to clearly communicate what work you have done, why it was important, and how it was different from other projects.

  • Creativity coming up with ideas and clever solutions to problems, as well as turning around and building them.

  • Ability to be applied: passion for both engineering and research.

  • Ability to work in ambiguous uncharted areas and having the experience, creativity and technical depth to pick the right direction.

Education:

  • Ph.D in electrical engineering, computer science or related field
