Position Information

Job Description

Provide leadership for the Electrical Engineering Technology program. Teach electrical engineering technology and utility power courses to students as assigned; write course plans; develop courses, including web-based or other distance education courses; assist in the acquisition of related instructional materials and supplies; and recommend curricular changes. In addition to teaching, assume advising responsibilities; assist the department and division with administrative and/or committee work; participate in department-, division-, and college-wide discussion and meetings, and complete other duties as assigned. Each semester, teach a minimum of 15 semester hours for day, evening, and/or online classes, both on campus and at off-campus sites as needed, and maintain a minimum of 10 office hours per week.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related area with eighteen graduate semester hours in Electrical Engineering Technology; commitment to and ability to implement instructional strategies that foster student retention and student success; ability to communicate effectively in teaching/learning situations both orally and in written form; ability/potential to use computerized/electronic classrooms; demonstrated innovative teaching approaches; good organizational skills; strong interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with students, staff, administrators, and the public; fairness and flexibility in understanding and working with a wide variety of students; willingness to develop and teach web-based or other distance education courses; and commitment to and willingness to teach in high school dual enrollment program. Commitment to using course assessment and program effectiveness methodologies and commitment to enhance the working relationships with local industries. Finalists will be required to present a sample teaching lesson. A background investigation will be conducted on the selected candidate.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge and/or work experience in the electric power industry, specifically in the areas of power distribution systems, electric power utilities, and applications and instruments used in the industry.
