Principal Hardware Electrical EngineerDate: Mar 28, 2018Location:Novi, MI, US Company: HARMAN InternationalRequisition Id : 102882Additional Work Location(s) :Job Responsibilities:•Leads the hardware development of audio head units and technology for in-vehicle infotainment systems, including the embedded application of navigation, voice recognition, GPS, Bluetooth, WiFi, Ethernet, and TFT displays.•Realization of system designs, schematics and/or schematics integration of hardware applications in the range of medium to high complexity under consideration of Harman guidelines.•Analyzes customer requirements and determines appropriate circuit implementations.•Works with PCB CAD engineers to implement optimized PCB layouts with respect to EMC, board area and technology, and signal integrity while meeting the customer and mechanical packaging requirements.•Designs, analyzes, specifies, simulates and characterizes electrical circuits and determines their performance characteristics using SPICE, Hyperlynx, and other engineering CAE analysis tools.•Contributes to an official HW verification process whereby electrical circuits are measured and checked to be within supplier and internal specifications.•Manages, releases, and updates the electrical production BOMs using Harman configuration management processes and systems.•Prepares technical reports and presentations for use with customers, Harman management, peers, and direct reports as necessary.•Evaluates relevant technology regarding requirements, market trends, and feasibility together with other engineering teams and procurement to ensure the best design and costs.•Provides technical responses to customer RFIs RFQs.•Supports the development and review of DFMEAs.•Supports the development and review of the environmental and EMC hardware validation test plans with the validation engineers•Supports the manufacturing team related to DFM reviews and technical build issues.•Assist in the mitigation of radiated and conducted emissions and other EMC issues associated with EMC/EMI compliance testing of automotive products.•Leads product design reviews of electrical schematics and PCB layouts.•Mentors develops young engineering talent.Basic Qualifications:•Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering. A Master's Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering is preferred.•8-10 years of design-related experience in the development of analog and digital circuits, including concept design, schematic entry, measurements, testing, and failure analysis.•Expert knowledge of industry standard electrical schematic and PCB layout realization tools, such as Mentor Graphics, OrCAD, Cadence, Zuken, or similar.•Familiarity with electrical simulation tools is preferred, such as Hyperlynx signal integrity and power integrity, SPICE, or similar.•Familiarity with infotainment related technologies is preferred, such as high speed SOCs, DRAM, flash, microcontrollers, CAN, Ethernet, Bluetooth, GPS, WiFi, LVDS video, cell modems, radio tuners, USB, audio amplifiers, displays, and linear and switching power supplies.•Knowledge of Automotive EMC requirements is preferred, such as CISPR-25, FCC part 15, or ISO 11451.•Knowledgeable on the use of electrical test equipment including oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and multimeters.•Ability to troubleshoot issues with electronic circuits and determine corrective action
