Job Summary

The Rockwell Collins Communication Hardware design team in Meblourne FL is looking for a Senior RF Design Engineer. The Communication Hardware team is responsible for the design and development of HF /VHF/ SATCOM Communication products. The engineer will be responsible for the RF hardware development for a next generation Satcom product.

Job Responsibilities

  • Contribute to hardware engineering requirements capture and analysis in area of domain expertise.

  • Design, test, analyze, integrate, qualify and document hardware of moderate to high complexity.

  • Work closely with other engineering disciplines (ie mechnical, software and systems engineering) to ensure the elevtrical design is appropiate for the project/product design approach.

  • Participate in cross-functional team efforts in integration, pre-qualification and qualification for products and sub-systems of moderate to high complexity.

  • Contribute to the engineering estimates for moderate to large scope electrical design problems.

  • Contribute to the development of RF performance based test cases, methods and procedures.

  • Mentor junior RF engineers.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline.

  • At least five (5) years prior RF hardware design covering the HF, VHF / UHF, L-band thru S-band.

  • Experience in some or all aspects of RF hardware development life cycle including requirements capture and verification, design and development, sub-level and system level integration and testing.

  • Circuit board design experience including experience with schematic capture tools and PCB layout supervision and guidance to board designers.

  • Be capable of hands-on troubleshooting using engineering lab equipment.

  • Ability to effectively communicate in a professional manner and produce detailed, clear and concise technical documentation.

  • Working knowledge of EM/circuit simulation tools like Keysight ADS and or AWR Microwave Office

  • Be self-directed, able to meet cost, schedule, and performance objectives with minimal oversight.

Desired skills:

  • An MS EE or PhD EE with an emphasis on electromagnetics / wireless communication

  • Previous experience in the avionics industry

  • Familiar with passive and active antenna testing and analysis.
