Position Purpose This position performs meter assets utility engineering work and requires independent application of standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. Departmental areas of responsibility include, regulatory compliance, operating policies and standards, Meter Asset Management (MAM) system computer network analysis, project engineering and customer services/distribution operational support.

Position will be filled at the engineer I, II, III, or Sr. level based upon the candidates experience and education level.

Education & Experience B. S. Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited school. Excellent experience in problem solving, analysis, and trouble-shooting and demonstrated superior written, verbal communication, interpersonal and influencing skills to work cooperatively with internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications Ability to use formal engineering training in practical application to metering assignments. Experience in the customer care information system (e.g., SAP CRM, SAP EEC and work order management and dispatching software e.g., ABB/Ventyx Service Suite) is helpful.

Job Description Plans and controls all activities so as to provide an accident-free and safe work place and conducts work activities with regard to environmental rules and regulations in accordance with established Company policies.

Directs the activities of others in Meter Assets, as instructed by management, as they perform various activities including installation or checkout of new metering equipment, meter programming, troubleshooting, testing, etc.

Learns the duties of a Meter Technician and the requirements of the KY PSC certification program to test meters.

Supports the Transmission, Distribution, and Generation engineering and planning groups to develop and implement project specific metering requirements and solutions.

Serves as a technical resource in administration and operation of Advanced Metering System head end applications (e.g., Landis+Gyr Command Center, Itron OpenWay Collection Engine), network monitoring, diagnostic and field troubleshooting tools.

Takes the lead on homogenizing the electric meter standards across KU and LG&E.

Supports the Operational Performance group in developing detailed process maps for various business processes impacted or driven by changes in metering operations, rates and tariffs, and Advanced Meter System deployment initiative.

Serves as a technical resource to the Team Leaders and Meter Technicians.

Develops meter specifications and supports the Team Leaders in procurement of new meters and meter test equipment.

Strives to become a Meter Asset Management system (e.g., Radian/WECO WattNet Plus) expert user and support contact for the department.

Assists Senior Engineer and/or Team Leaders with large projects, on as needed basis and performs other duties as directed by management.

Work Conditions Normal office environment with frequent trips to the field.

Physical Effort Frequent standing, walking, climbing, or operating in work-controlled position.
