BAE Systems Electrical Engineer - Sr in Keyport, Washington

Job Description

This position is in response to a proposal that BAE Systems is currently bidding on.

There is no relocation assistance available for this position. If relocation is required, the selected candidate must be willing to relocate at his/her own expense.

This position will support the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Keyport Washington. The position will provide engineering support for the Keyport Engineering Services Support (KESS) contract in the Electrical Engineering discipline.

The purpose of this position is to perform professional technical work, which is complex in nature and requires broad knowledge and wide application of test engineering principles, theories, concepts, practices and techniques used to meet allocated program/system requirements. To provide team leadership to ensure the completion of professional technical work.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Create and develop electrical designs, including moderately complex subsystems for the development of electronic, thermodynamic, mechanical motion and optical systems. Coordinate and disseminate the work of lower level engineers, designers, and support personnel as assigned. Lead design segments as the Lead Electrical Engineer on engineering efforts responsible for achievement of schedule, fiscal and technical performance objectives

Analyze electrical components and subsystems using both common application programs and more advanced programs. Performs specific professional technical assignments of an investigatory, design or test nature requiring limited analysis and evaluation, selection and application of basic engineering principles, theories and techniques. Perform trade studies and document results for presentation to senior program staff

Develop test plans and direct the fabrication of prototypes. Conduct testing of moderately complex systems and resolve design and related manufacturing problems. Coordinate product transition to Operations as required

Generate, review and approve written reports supporting the design, analysis and test of the product design including drawings, engineering specifications, and other associated documentation. Report on project status and progress measured against specific plans. Prepare design review packages and present data to both internal and external customers

Implement the Electrical Design Process in work plans, and adhere to E&IS Quality System. Provide feedback to improve the process, and work to meet engineering objectives. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of developments in the electrical engineering disciplines. Ensure cost effectiveness and manufacturability of design

Coordinate and direct the work efforts of lower level engineers and support personnel, if assigned. Assignments may include development of new techniques as a result of independent study, materials development and support

of proposal efforts

Participates in the investigation, development and testing where overall operational, space, functional and similar design requirements have been specified. Designs or selects available designs to meet requirements. Evaluates merits of design with higher skilled engineers. Acquires familiarization with the project, engineering or research effort and company engineering practices and standards

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 4 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

Final Secret security clearance is required

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or similar with at least 4 years of related work experience

Ability to understand and learn new requirements quickly

Work experience with complex project level engineering analysis related work

Proficiency using MS Office Suite/MS Outlook (emphasis on Word, Excel, Access, Power Point,

Outlook, Project) and other computer based engineering applications

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Skills and Education

Highly desired education/skills/experience:

Masters degree with 3 years of related work experience or PhD degree

Electrical Engineering Engineering experience in Undersea Warfare areas

Experience in reverse engineering/replacement of old commercial designs

Experience with designs going into an ocean environment

Experience in the development of quotes including Bill of Materials/cost estimation

Experience with circuit design and micro electronic design

Experience with programming, programming languages and logic devices
