ModSpace Electrical Engineer in Irving, Texas
ModSpace is seeking a licensed Electrical Engineer to join our North American Design Services team in Dallas, TX.
This is a great opportunity to work with a collaborative team in a mid-sized North American firm - a healthy pipeline of work, good resources and a variety of projects all with work/life balance! ModSpace has an in-house team of construction professionals across the US and Canada in roles from Architect to design, estimation and project management. This role provides a good degree of visibility and responsibility on a smaller team within a larger organization.
The Electrical Engineer works closely with engineering, architectural, sales and business development teammates on:
Electrical code requirements for projects in progress
Preparation of technical packages for proposals
Design and development of building and electrical solutions specific to unique markets and project applications
Day to Day Responsibilities May Include:
Design, development and evaluation of electrical distribution systems for commercial applications using recognized industry standards and specifications across multiple geographies
System calculations and studies for electrical power systems
Construction document production
Client and regulatory agency liaison
Interaction with internal teams (region and design) on multi discipline projects
Representation at ModSpace events with trade or industry organizations

BS in Mechanical, Electrical, or Architectural Engineering
Specializing in Electrical systems for commercial buildings
Licensed Professional Engineer status
Multi state preferred and capable of becoming licensed in multiple states
5 or more years in commercial construction with an A/E firm, general contractor or CM firm
Experience in the design of electrical systems
Working Knowledge of NEC
Good computer skills including mastery of key software programs used daily to produce and communicate designs
CAD, including: AutoCAD, Revit, and/or 3-D design software
MS Office Suite Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint
We're looking for a team member with excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills and the ability facilitate team meetings as needed. You should be a team builder and enjoy training/mentoring others!
Any of the below are a plus but not required:
Experience in the design of fire alarm and data systems
Experienced in the design of HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems for commercial construction
Knowledge of International Mechanical, Plumbing and Electrical Codes, AISC and ASHRAE Standards
Previous experience with modular and off-site construction is preferred but not essential
Energy Modeling Software a plus
Design and research of mechanical systems and products; applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, and materials
All ModSpace team members must have:
PC Proficiency in a Windows environment with MS Office Suite
Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, presentation and organizational skills
