Central Semiconductor Corp Electrical Engineer in Hauppauge, New York
Coordinates the day-to-day new product design and development process from start to finish under the direction of engineering management, in conjunction with other product design and development team members, ensuring that project goals and objectives are accomplished in a timely manner. Provides applications engineering support in relation to new product development and adoption.
Facilitates Central's new product development efforts to meet goals and objectives by recommending Supply Chain Partners for proposed new products; expediting generation of assembly drawings and product assembly; performing evaluation and testing of assembled product and preparing reports; ensuring complete and comprehensive data input for all new product requests; and maintaining field activity databases to ensure relevant activity is tracked and there is quick turn around on opportunity feasibility analyses.
Performs competitive benchmark testing, characterization and analysis. Prepares brief reports of findings.
Works with Central's field sales team to ensure complete and comprehensive submission of new product requests to minimize cycle time and ensure requirements are clearly defined.
Communicates with customers by telephone, email, and in person, as necessary, as part of the new product development process.
Provides periodic updates to Central's field sales team on the status of new product development efforts, involving sales in direct customer communications, as appropriate.
In conjunction with other engineering team members, provides applications engineering support to customers relative to their system design and usage of Central's products, and/or specific testing and characterization requirements.
Uses circuit simulation software (such as SPICE) to perform engineering and design tasks; creates SPICE models of Central's discrete semiconductor devices using measured electrical data.
Communicates with Supply Chain Partners and other technology partners by email, telephone, and in person, as necessary.
Prepares status reports to keep product design and development team members informed of the status of new products in process; provides updates on key product development metrics.
Prepares new product development summaries for engineering management and other design team members.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
BSEE or equivalent degree from a four-year accredited college or university; and three to five years hands-on related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience interfacting with customers directly.
MSEE or equivalent degree; five years plus hands-on related experience; two-three years project management experience; experience with discrete semiconductors; experience working with global Supply Chain Partners; and experience with ISO9001:2008/2015 are all preferred.
