The Lavatories & Water Waste Systems division of Rockwell Collins is the sole source lavatory provider for the Boeing 737 MAX program. As a leader in the aerospace industry, we are growing rapidly and have a number of exciting positions available right now, including a Staff Engineer in our Lavatories & Water Waste Systems business located in Everett, WA.
Reporting to the Director of Engineering the Staff Engineer will lead and advise product development in AC and DC power electronics used in commercial aircraft environment, the candidate provides technical expertise and leadership to the engineering team from concept to qualification and certification. The candidate is well versed in circuit design and analysis, power conversion and motor control topology. The candidate is experienced in qualifying equipment to RTCA/DO-160, SAE and relevant aircraft OEM electrical / electronic design requirements. The ideal candidate works well in a team environment and has kept up to date with state-of-the art technology in the power electronics field.
Design and develop analog and digital circuit in power supplies, system controls and motor controls.
Define technical road map and next generation architecture for electronics equipment in the water and waste system and act as advisor for leadership in technical capacity.
Hands on experience with prototyping and testing circuit design, controllers, power supply and subsystems with working knowledge of spectrum analyzers, oscilloscope, current sensors, and typical laboratory instruments.
Knowledgeable in industry and OEM electronics / electrical design requirements including power quality, harmonics, EME filtering and lightning design and mitigation, etc.
Comprehensive understanding of application of power devices such as MOSFET, Schottky Diodes, and IGBTs, etc.
Experienced with design analysis tools such as PSPICE, MathCad, Matlab / Simulink.
Lead root cause and corrective action analysis and implementation on electronics products.
Take leadership role in review and approve of design data as the subject matter expert.
Prepare and review detailed documentation for product design including BOM, circuit schematic, specifications, test plans, test procedures, and test reports.
Support proposal effort and supplier evaluation / selection activities.
Act as technical focal for electronics with customer and supply chain.
Performs other related duties as required.
Up to 10% of travel is expected for this position.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from four-year college or university and 10+ years related experience and/or training
Working knowledge of Altium and associated tools for circuit design.
Knowledge of digital design / embedded controllers.
Ability to teach and mentor less-experienced engineers.
Master’s Degree in Engineering
