Scope of Position:
Serve as a principal electrical engineering resource working with the Drying Core Technology Equipment Leader to provide equipment engineering support for expansion projects and equipment upgrade projects. Support existing business and factories expansions world-wide. Develop and proliferate manufacturing and technology best practices. Provide the tools to improve process understanding, process capability, product quality, and reduce manufacturing cost. Required to have or quickly develop skills and knowledge to become a department microwave technology expert.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
Provide drying engineering support and expertise for process improvements for existing manufacturing products and processes across the division, expansion projects, continuous improvement, cost reduction, equipment improvements, trouble shooting and resolution of manufacturing issues.
Work in a cross-functional environment.
Work with engineering and production personnel to troubleshoot and resolve equipment and process issues.
Project leader for specific projects managing scope, cost, resourcing, time and implementation.
Provide technical direction and support of installation and implementation of new drying system equipment and upgrades.
Support acceptance testing and start-up of new processes and equipment.
Ensure that best practices are identified, communicated, evaluated and proliferated.
Conduct or participate in audits of plant or vendor equipment and processes.
Document results and conclusions into presentations to leadership that can be understood, and are actionable.
Define specifications and controls for new drying equipment
Design experiments to determine and optimize important equipment variables and their effect on product and process parameters.
Integrate problem solutions into production and validate results. Provide second level production support.
Translate work, solutions, and directions into presentations to leadership that can be understood and are actionable
Implement manufacturing process control methods.
Projects Involved with:
Drying equipment improvements and upgrades for existing drying production equipment
Drying equipment development for new production lines, new products and processes
Root cause understanding for production issues
Roles within Group:
Key technical resource for drying equipment
Technical project leadership on drying projects
Grow into division subject matter expert for drying systems and operation
Technical liaison between Development, Engineering and Manufacturing
Promote and develop technical growth among Division Engineering Department and Manufacturing Plant engineers and technicians
Influencing division wide process initiatives
Travel Requirements: 10-75%, project related, both domestic and international
Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time: Typically 8-5, but some off hours support required
Education: B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
Electrical Engineering and technical equipment skills – electrical schematics, wiring, troubleshooting, programming, etc.
Programming knowledge and experience through internships and coursework
Hands-on approach; eager to jump in and solve problems
Mechanical Engineering skills – good understanding of mechanical equipment and systems
Technical curiosity, strong work ethic, self-starting.
Strong drive to succeed and implement solutions
Knowledge of basic process engineering principles
Strong communication skills, both written and oral

Knowledge and understanding of Microwave and Radio Frequency equipment.
Machine programming experience
Rockwell / Allen-Bradley PLC Software programming
Good working knowledge and experience in production environment.
Thermal processing knowledge and experience
Materials, heat and mass transfer understanding, to include theory, concepts, principles and techniques
Teamwork in a multicultural environment
Experience in the stages of innovation, transferring technology and processes from development to production
Experience in a manufacturing environment
Experimentation skills and knowledge; planning, executing and data/statistical analysis.
