Exterran Electrical Engineer - Senior in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma

This position will be responsible to

Position requires excellent working knowledge of I&C detail design and engineering techniques, as well as CAD and PDMS familiarity. Responsible to plan and conduct independent work that requires judgment in evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria. Need to supervise and lead a team engineers and designers in carrying out detailed engineering work for large sized project assuming entire responsibility of conceptual and detailed design and provide necessary technical information for procurement in compliance with tender specification / data sheet and within budgeted man-hour and project schedules.

Duties and Responsibilities

Typical duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Preparation, review and approval of I&C detail engineering and design, drawings, specifications, calculations, charts and graphs

  • Project controls, cost estimates, quantity takeoffs and manpower requirements for proposals, forecasts and change orders

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Review the ITB (Invitation to Bid) documents submitted in the proposals stage, issue inquiry requisitions, review techno-commercial vendor offers, prepare equipment, material and man-hour estimates.

  • Review contract requirements for project execution, organize the preparation of the Technical Document Register (TDR), and identify requirements and scope of work; review specifications Process Data Sheets (PDS), Piping Material Specifications (PMS), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID’s), Plot plans, General Arrangement (GA) drawings, and other relevant documents. Establish contract review criteria, identify and resolve discrepancies and divergences from original proposal through the instigation of technical queries to projects/client.

  • Identify scope of work, budgeted man hours, budgeted quantities, total number of deliverables, time schedules and other specifications for execution of the work. Recommend cost effective measures to reduce the overall package costs.

  • Prepare, supervise, review and monitor the development of equipment and material specifications and data sheets, Instrument Index, Input & Output Lists, Bill of Quantities, Block Diagrams, cable routing, control room layouts, Loop Diagrams, Wiring Termination Diagrams, Loop drawings, Installation Hook-up Drawings, Instrument Plot Plans, Cable Tray/Trench Lay-outs, Cable Schedules, JB schedules, Interconnection Schedules and Installation detail drawings.

  • Prepare, review, organize the issuance of engineering drawings and technical documents for Inter-Discipline Checks (IDCs), coordinate with other engineering discipline in the integration of data inputs.

  • Interact with Quality Control for quality issues; strictly ensure compliance with Company’s ISO Quality procedures.

  • Prepare, review and supervise the preparation of technical inquiry requests (Inquiry Requisitions) to vendors; participate in the technical evaluation of vendor bid offers. Complete, review and provide guidance in the Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE), review vendor drawings and documents.

  • Prepare, coordinate Purchase Requisitions for the procurement of instrument and materials. Ensure materials are obtained within scheduled timeframes and budgeted costs.

  • Interface and regularly meet with client and vendor representatives, conduct internal staff meetings, ensure the progress of project in accordance to schedule, allotted man hours and budgeted costs.

  • Participate in HAZOP meeting and undertake SIL studies with client and representatives of other engineering disciplines.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by Direct Supervisor.

Internal Cross Working Relations (Departmental)

  • Reporting to I&C Discipline Manger this Position is supposed to lead a team of Engineers and designers within the I&C Discipline while maintaining a very close relation with Electrical Disciplines.

External Working Relations (External to Exterran)

  • Interfacing with clients, vendors, construction companies and third party engineering companies.

Job Requirements

Preferred Education and Relevant Experience/Training:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Instrument Engineering with 10 to 15 years of related petrochemical experience preferable from a background in working for consultancy organizations in the EPC of the Oil and Gas Industry. A minimum of 5 years in a similar position is required. Must have experience in working in a Multi-cultural office on more than one project at a time.

Technical Knowledge and Skills

  • Thorough knowledge I&C engineering/ design for large scale industrial / oil and gas projects.

  • Thorough in-depth knowledgeable of international standards, International Electro technical Commission (IEC), National Fire Protection Association/National Electrical Code (NFPA/NEC), IEEE and API Standards

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks on multiple projects while maintaining schedule, budget and quality.

  • Experience in working in multi-cultural, multiple discipline office on projects with Oil & gas and/or Petrochemical Clients.

  • Thorough knowledge on Hazardous area classification and selection of equipment.

  • Thorough knowledge of safety instrumentation and function, certification will be added advantage.

Computer Skills:

  • MS Office ( Excel, Word, etc)

Language Ability:

  • English- fluent (Speak / Read / Write)

Working Conditions and Physical Strain

  • Duties performed in Main Office mostly in air-conditioned surroundings. Occasionally incumbent would require traveling to sites and vendor workshops.
