System One has a“Part-time / as needed”opportunity for a Facilities Condition Assessor / Electrical Engineer in our client’s Boston office. Our client, a global engineering and construction firm, is an industry leader in projects and capital improvement programs supporting healthcare, education, infrastructure, power/energy and environmental.
The work schedule will be full time for approximately 2 months then off for approximately 2 months. Must be local to the Boston area – no per diem or relocation offered. Drug screen / background check required.
The Senior Electrical Engineer will have significant Facility Condition Assessment experience; specifically on facility electrical power distribution, lighting, communication, and instrumentation equipment and systems for educational, hospital/healthcare, and/or industrial facilities including waste water treatment facilities. Electrical equipment and system design, installation, and site survey, startup/commissioning experience for educational, hospital/healthcare, and/or industrial facilities is a definite plus.

The Electrical Engineer will have a P.E. and healthcare design experience (hospitals/clinics/labs)
NCEES reg. preferred
BS in electrical engineering
US Citizenship required
5-8 years of post-graduate professional electrical engineering and design experience
Extensive facility electrical power distribution, lighting, communications, and instrumentation equipment and systems survey and assessment experience for educational, healthcare/hospital, and/or industrial facilities
Electrical equipment and system design, installation, and site startup/commissioning experience for educational, healthcare/hospital, and/or industrial facilities is a definite plus
Demonstrated leadership role in performing facility electrical system and equipment facility surveys and condition assessments
Working knowledge and hands on experience with power system analysis software tools such as ETAP, Paladin Design Base, and SKM, etc. and performing short circuit, load flow, voltage drop, device coordination, and arc flash analysis on facility electrical equipment and systems
Working knowledge of applicable IEEE, ANSI, IEC requirements as well as applicable NFPA/NEC codes
Current active electrical PE license in at least one US state, NCEES registration preferred.
Willingness to travel to client offices and jobsites is expected as well as the ability to perform site and facility walk downs as required to conduct condition assessments

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, the successful candidates will be responsible for performing electrical systems and equipment assessments for educational, hospital/healthcare, and/or industrial facilities, preparing condition assessment reports, including system narrative descriptions and deficiency cost estimates, and entry of condition assessment data and findings into Client’s proprietary eCOMET® database. You will perform assessment work as well as plan, direct, and supervise the assessment work of other electrical engineers. You will conduct onsite inspections of electrical equipment and systems as well as review electrical design drawings, electrical equipment specifications, calculations, and documents for both small and large assessment projects. These positions also entail assisting in preparing client presentations and proposal responses. As a professional electrical engineer, you will be required to assess the existing electrical equipment and systems for safety, condition, age, capacity and design compliance with applicable codes and regulations, and may be required to stamp your engineering seal and signature on assessment reports when required by contract. Willingness to travel and/or temporarily relocate to field sites is expected.
