Job Summary

AECOM has a great opportunity for an

Electrical Engineer in Annapolis Junction, MD. This is a Power and Cooling Service Provider program for a mission critical customer responsible for the renovation and modernization of the existing utility infrastructure and buildings. The selected candidate will be responsible for performing engineering calculations and analyses, maintaining and submitting related reports and data on assignments of advanced complexity, and providing technical guidance during events that affect the performance of critical mission systems. This individual will propose engineering solutions and modifications in accordance with the customer requirements. He/she will be responsible for modeling and simulating the electrical infrastructure using the ETAP software, and for maintaining an engineering technical library and informational repositories. The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for interacting with other disciplines, project support groups, subcontractors, vendors and customer representatives, and for performing engineering related functions. Responsible for sustaining the electrical system model database using the ETAP software.Conduct and analyze load flow, short-circuit, protective device coordination and arc-flash studies. Work with customers to gather and analyze critical information, review engineering plans and propose engineering solutions. Work with the campus model team personnel and field forces conducting surveys and gathering critical information for analysis. Coordinate and interface with other numerous Architectural and Engineering (A/E) firms, and be a self-contained engineer.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, or related scientific field and at least 5 years of job-related experience or equivalent.

  • Good communications and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs.

  • Position may require travel.

  • Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience with ETAP is preferred.

  • Must have a Power Systems background.

  • Fully versed in codes and standards (i.e. NEC, IEEE).

  • Must have an understanding of SCADA systems and Capacity Management Systems.

  • Must have experience with mechanical and electrical systems, working in a secure atmosphere, data centers (power and cooling), and knowledge in SCADA and Capacity Management Systems.

  • Prior DOD and CONUS Facilities experience is a strong plus.

  • Experience with protective device selection and coordination, Time-Current Curves (TCCs) and Arc Flash Reduction Maintenance Settings (ARMS).

  • Experience with analytical skills and recovery of failure of Low Voltage/Amp Circuit Breakers (LVACBs), Overcurrent Relays (OCRs), Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPSs) for known problems or during unscheduled events (e.g. outages).

  • Professional licensed engineer (PE) in Electrical Engineering preferred but not required.
