Electrical Engineer (Alliance, Ohio)

Our client is currently hiring an Electrical Engineer to manage, design, checkout and commission PLC controlled equipment used in the metals industry. Such equipment may include: material handling systems, steel and aluminum process control systems, transfer cars, automated cranes and more. The electrical equipment will often include: power distribution, variable speed drives, positioning systems, instrumentation, PLCs and HMIs.

This is a Direct Hire role. May require 20% travel based on the project work load.

Ideal candidate will have an Electrical Engineering or technology background with a strong technical aptitude and hands on experience. He /she should have interest in designing and commissioning of industrial control systems for Steel Mills and/or other heavy industries. The individual should also have exposure or experience in programming, designing, and commissioning PLCs, Drives and Automation systems. An interest in Mechanical systems a plus.


Studies schematics, equipment layout, manuals, and other specifications to determine installation and wiring procedures of electrical devices on the mechanical equipment

Installs or oversees installation of equipment according to manufacturer's specifications

Consults with Mechanical engineering personnel to resolve problems in system operation and maintenance

Interprets maintenance manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams, and repairs equipment, utilizing knowledge of electronics and using standard test instruments and hand tools

Instructs and directs workers in building OEM equipment

May supervise client’s personnel in testing, tuning, and adjusting equipment to obtain optimum operating performance

Advising management regarding customer satisfaction, product performance, and suggestions for product improvements

The Engineer should also possess:

7 -10 yrs. electrical controls exp.

Steel background

Programming background with HMI development, and also PLC software engineering (Siemens and Rockwell Platforms)

Electrical Design background (or interest)

Design and reading Single Line, Layouts using AutoCad Electrical

Panel design

AC and DC Drive systems commissioning

Process line experience a plus

Other Qualifications:

Familiarity with the National Electrical Code

Understands and programs PLC and HMI code and knows how to relate it to machine or process operation
